Mandore Garden Jodhpur is located in a small town Mandore in the district of Jodhpur of Rajasthan. Mandore was once the capital of the Marwar kings and is 9 kms away from Jodhpur city. The extensive Mandore Garden has high rock hill terrace, making it a poular local attraction. The cenotaphs of former rulers of Jodhpur can also be seen inside the Mandore Garden. These cenotaphs are not of usual shape and are built along the lines of a Hindu temple. These are built of red sandstone and are four stories high, with fine columns and an elegant spire. The most attractive dewal is the dewal of Maharaja Ajit Singh and set in beautiful landscaped gardens. The cenotaphs of the Maharani are set on a rocky outcrop over the hill. The highlights of Mandore garden comprises of the graphic Hall of Heroes, a rock wall with high relief, bright paintings depicting scenes from the life of local heroes such as Pabuji and Chamunda and crowded current holy place of 30 crore gods. The hall is dedicated to various deities and Rajput folk heroes.
History of Mandore Garden
History of Mandore gardens starts from the 6th century. At that time Mandore was under the rule of Pratiharas of Mandavyapura. The king of Rathore dynasty Rao Chunda married the Princess of Pratiharas. As a dowry, he got the Mandore Jungarh Fort.
After a while, In 1427 Mandore under the rule of Rao Rinmal Rathore who is also the administrator of the kingdom of Mewar until 1438. The Mewar ruler Rana Khumba overtook the throne of Mandore by assassinating the Rao Rinmal. During the assassination of Rao Rinmal his son escaped and tried a lot to recapture the Mandore but not worked. In 1453, Mandore underwent the rule of Rao Jodha.
After many invasions, Mandore became the capital of Jodhpur kings. Even though many dynasties invaded the Mandore like Muslim rulers of Gujarat and Malwa. To protect the Mandore, the capital of Jodhpur was changed to Mehrangarh Fort which is safe for the kingdom wealth.
This is the history of Mandore in Jodhpur. Even though it faced many invasions, it was there for us to experience the bygone era of Jodhpur through the architectural styles and royal cenotaphs.

1. Cenotaphs at Mandore Garden
The beauty of Mandore garden has increased with the unique cenotaphs or Chattris which also carries the evidence of the richness of Madore. This cenotaphs are of 17th to 18 centuries and made of red sandstone. Each of these cenotaphs were created for the different rulers of the Mandore kingdom. These Chattris are four floor high and completed with columns and spire.
